On Valentine’s Day, I didn't wake up to a text saying…
“Good morning, baby”
No delivery guy knocking at my door with surprise gifts. Instagram stories were buzzing with red roses and teddy bears, and I had already accepted my fate.
Today na just vibes.🤧
Or so I thought.
Because just when I was about to binge-watch couples in matching pajamas and whispering “awwn, God when” to myself, my phone buzzed.
+1 (Canada)
I squinted. Canada? On Valentine’s Day ke?
Maybe love is finally crossing borders for me😂, I thought.
I even adjusted my sitting position.
But when I opened the message, it wasn’t
“Hey, beautiful.”
Instead, it read:
"Hi, I’m interested in real estate, but I honestly don’t know anything about it."
Ehn?!
I stared at my phone, blinked twice. Ah, so is this the Valentine surprise?
Since I had nothing better lined up, we scheduled a call. But I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect much.
Because, you see, in this real estate business, a lot of people inquire but don’t commit.
So, I told myself, we move. At least, it’s still better than being in my feelings about being single.
But from the moment we hopped on that call, I knew this one was different.
The call started.
Her first words: “I honestly know nothing about real estate.”
And I could hear it, the uncertainty.
The “I hope I’m not making a mistake” tone.
Now, let me pause here.
Because this part? This isn’t just about real estate. It’s about life.
How many times have you wanted something, a new opportunity, a big move but fear and confusion held you back? The “What if I don’t get it right?” feeling?
Yeah, that was her vibe.
And honestly, I get it.
Confusion can make you stuck like when you stare at a menu for too long and still end up ordering rice.
So, I smiled. Because this?
This is where everything changes.
Instead of throwing big real estate terms or the usual “limited-time offer” speech, I did what anyone should do when trust is on the line, I listened.
We talked like friends over suya and cold Fanta, no big grammar, no pressure, just me listening intently.
I asked questions that matter:
"What financial goals would you like your investments to achieve while you focus on other priorities?"
And as she spoke, it hit me this wasn’t just about owning a land. It was about financial freedom, peace of mind, and building something secure from miles away.
Then came that silent moment.
You know that pause when you’re waiting for JAMB results?
Yeah, that kind of suspense.
“Let me think about it” was what I expected.
But what she said next?
Omo. You won’t believe it…
"This actually makes so much sense. I’ll make the deposit."
In my mind, I was like…
Wait. What?!
I checked my network. Maybe I didn’t hear well. Maybe the call was breaking.
But no. My ears were correct.
She made payment and sent the receipt.
In 36 minutes, we moved from “I don’t know anything about real estate” to “Payment confirmed.”
No second-guessing.
No “let me think about it” or “let me ask my village people”
That moment did two things for me:
1. It reminded me that people buy clarity, not just products. When people understand what they’re paying for and how it aligns with what they want, the decision becomes easy.
2. Trust isn’t built with big talk; it’s built with real connection. This woman didn’t know me. We’d never met. Yet, in 36 minutes, she trusted me enough to part with her money. Not because I tried to “sell” her something but because I listened, simplified the process, and gave her exactly what fit her goals.
And you know what? This lesson isn’t just for realtors.
Whether you’re selling a product, offering a service, or building a brand, people are looking for someone who gets them.
Someone who listens, simplifies the complicated, and genuinely has their best interest at heart.
So while the world was busy unboxing Valentine gifts and tagging “Forever mine” on Instagram, I was celebrating a different kind of love, helping someone secure their financial future.
Because, let’s be honest:
Valentine is sweet, but securing the bag? It's sweeter jare.
And just like that, I closed the sale effortlessly.
No chasing. No convincing. Just clarity and trust.
Have you ever had an unexpected win that reminded you you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be? Let’s gist!
And that’s a wrap for Episode 1. But this is just the beginning
I’m sharing MY LIFE AS A REALTOR because I know we’re all out here trying to figure out life, and hope things align.
Sometimes it clicks in 36 minutes; other times, it feels like 36 years (God abeg).
But every step, whether sweet, tough, or totally unexpected comes with lessons.
I’ll be sharing it all, not just the wins but the real and raw moments nobody talks about because I believe there’s always something you can learn, something that might just change how you see things.
And who knows?
You might just see why I’m the only realtor you’d ever want to work with.
Trust me, it only gets more interesting from here. Stay tuned for Episode 2.
You don’t want to miss it!
Ciao!
