Last week, I started watching a Bible series that’s been teaching me a lot, not just about the stories I grew up hearing, but about what it really means to live by faith.
There was a moment in the episode that truly shook me in the most quiet, and humbling way.
It was the scene where David, after fasting and praying for days for his sick child, learns that the child had died. He doesn't scream. He doesn't curse. He doesn't storm off in anger. He worships.
In the scene, Bathsheba asks him…
“Even with what happened, you still worship?”
And David with tired eyes and a steady voice says something that pierced me:
“Through sorrow, joy… and sorrow again. This is the meaning of Faith.”
I paused. Rewound. Watched it again. Because honestly? That’s the part I’m still learning.
Faith that doesn’t always make sense.
Faith that holds on when the miracle doesn’t come.
Faith that cries, fasts, pleads… and still surrenders.
And maybe that’s the essence of faith. Not perfection. Not certainty. But simply holding on.
Especially in the waiting.
Especially in the silence.
Especially when it hurts.
Sometimes, trusting God feels like walking in the dark with nothing but a whisper to follow. No signs. No updates. No sudden changes. Just… hope. And some days, not even that.
On Saturday, I posted this on my WhatsApp status:
That mustard seed faith? That’s all some of us have left.
And yet… it’s enough.
So, what does faith mean to you, especially in the moments when it’s hardest to hold on?
The beauty of faith is that it doesn’t have to make sense to others. It's about that quiet strength that pushes you to keep going when everything else says to stop. And in those moments of silence and waiting, faith has a way of growing in the spaces we least expect.
So, however small your faith may seem today, know that it’s enough. Even if it feels fragile, even if it’s just that mustard seed kind, it’s enough.
And you’re not alone in the waiting.
Here’s what I’m walking away with and maybe it’ll sit with you too:
Faith isn’t about always feeling strong, sometimes, it’s just about choosing to stay and trust in God beyond your current situation.
God may be silent, but He’s never absent.
Even when it feels like you’ve got nothing left, a mustard seed is still something.
Worship isn’t just for the victory moments; it’s powerful even in grief.
Trust isn’t proven when you get what you want, it’s revealed when you don’t.
Easter reminds us that what feels like the end isn't always the end. Just like Jesus rose again, new beginnings can still come from our darkest moments.
Happy Easter!✨
