Do you ever open Instagram and see one guy your age who just bought a property in Lekki, another girl running a business with 5 staff, and someone else hosting a TEDx talk?
And then that thought creeps in:
“Maybe they have connection.”
“They probably have rich parents.”
“They’re just lucky abeg.”
But what if they weren’t “just lucky”?
What if they worked their way into those rooms, failed quietly for years, built painfully in the background and that “unfair advantage” you think they have is really just the result of showing up consistently?
I’ve seen it play out again and again. Young people doing mind-blowing things not because they waited till they were older, but because they started even when it didn't make sense.
Being young isn’t something to escape from or apologize for. And it’s not something you outgrow either.
We’ve heard “time is on your side” so often that it almost feels like a cliché.
But here’s how I really see it:
Time is the one currency you didn’t have to hustle for, life already credited you.
Whether you invest it or waste it… na you sabi.
A lot of us are waiting to feel “ready.”
But time doesn’t wait for readiness. It rewards action.
Working with 1159realty, the very first real estate brand that is boldly focused on young people, has taught me a lot.
Fun fact? The brand itself was founded by someone who started investing in real estate at just 16.
Yes, Age 16!
This one is not "perspire to aspire to Maguire."
It’s real. (In a later episode, I'll definitely share the full story, so if you haven't already, hit the subscribe button to get notified when I post it)
So from one young person to another, start opening your mind to possibilities that go beyond your current circumstances.
It might not be easy but trust me, it’s always worth it.
Here's what I'm trying to say:
“Connection,” “rich parents,” “soft life”? Valid. But that’s not always the full gist.
Some people started with nothing and just kept building while you were still tweeting “Nigeria is hard.”
Everything is not “perspire to aspire.”
It’s real, possible, and already happening, if you stop doubting. Your age isn’t the problem. Your mindset might be.
“Ready” is a scam.
That feeling of readiness you’re waiting for? E no dey. Start confused. Clarity will meet you on the way.
Discipline > Vibes.
That “unfair advantage” might just be years of hard work that didn’t make it to social media.
Comparison will quench your fire.
Stop scrolling in envy. Some people you envy aren’t lucky, they’re just consistent.
Surround yourself with things and people that stretch your mindset.
1159realty showed me what’s possible when youth is taken seriously.
So again, you're young, and so?😏
